About Us

The Department of Public Work is responsible for providing the following services to the city:

Street and Road Maintenance:
This maintenance includes but is not limited to repairs, shoulder maintenance and embankment stabilization, and erosion control. Street and road maintenance also includes the cutting of right-of-ways (ROWs) and green space. Before we can cut the grass we must pick up any trash on the Rows We also maintain a yearly paving schedule which involves "capping" (re-paving) approximately four to five miles of roadway each year. This maintenance also includes the removal of sight visibility problems. This maintenance DOES NOT include major road improvements, widening, extensions, etc. These larger projects are handled through the Planning, Engineering, and Building department.

Drainage Infrastructure Correction:
Correction of failed drainage infrastructures. We do not design or build new infrastructures. This is part of the development of the property.

Trash Service:
The removal of outside debris and bulk items. Please call 532-3718 for Garbage service, household debris, and recycling. Click HERE for our Solid Waste Guidelines and Information Page or download the PDF leaflet from the column on the right.

Cemetery Maintenance and Burials:
We assist with the purchase and location of plots. We also assist monument companies with the installation of monument and corner stones. Please call 772-8490 for more information.

Vector Control:
The function of this division is the control of the mosquito population. This is done in two parts: Adulticide program, which is the killing of the adult mosquitoes, and the larvacide program, which is the killing of mosquito larvae.
Click HERE for additional information concerning mosquito control.

Assist In Emergency Situations:
Quite often the personnel you see putting up barriers and alerting the public to potential hazards during heavy rains, flooding and etc. are member of the Public Works Division.

Burial of Dead Large Animals:
We bury large farm animals, such as cows and horses.

Public Works also assists in preparation and clean up of special events, such as Street Festival, parades, and holiday decorations as well as special projects for the Mayor, Council, Schools, and other City Departments.
